A Study About Shape and Topology Optimizations on A Connecting Rod

Internal combustion engines have progressed since they undertook a crucial role to convert chemical energy of fuel mechanical with the reciprocat-ing motion piston. Structural elements performed under heavy con-ditions their facing dynamic stresses especially on connecting rod compression and tensile stresses. To overcome these stresses, manufacturing methods design studied by engineers for different size types so far. Many software are interested in structural optimization due demand field present means application finite element methods. Instead focusing kinetics con-necting rod, this study, first, introduces steps Then, limitations were determined which had critical im-portance novel rhombic drive internal engine (ICE). Shape topology optimizations used ICE part reduce mass while keeping endurance limit structure. In analyses, Hypermesh, Optistruct Hy-perView tools HyperWorks used. 50% reduction as constraint was accomplished stress increased only 26%, demanded 320 MPa optimization. shape optimization, maximum 304 from 191 20% obtained. The results compared former data.
